SWIMMING:Dolphin's objective of elevating their B team into the top flight was given an early boost after a ding-dong battle with Corsham A team, who lead Division Two by just two points.
They amassed nine individual victories to add to their relay success in six events and, but for a disqualification in the closing stages, may have topped the table after the opening encounter.
Boys' team captain Dan Rose kick-started it by bringing home maximum points in the open 4 x 100 individual medley. Katie Hall followed suit added second place in the same event for the girls, with a massive personal best of 1:14 seconds.
Corsham A seized the initiative until Chris Harber took victory in event nine, the boys' open 100m backstroke.
Milly Unalan, Lucy Bouverie-Brine, Sarah Baker and Sarah-Jayne Morgan teamed up in the girls' under 16 medley to bag a maximum, before joining forces to seal victory in the 4 x 100 freestyle relay.
Rose made it a brace of victories in the open butterfly and Dolphin's theme of excellence in this discipline continued with Jenna Beckett (open), Sarah Baker (under 16) and Hayley Innes (under 14).
Dolphin's open teams were formidable with the boys' quartet of Harber, Steve Cryer, Rose and Ben Matthews remaining unbeaten in both medley and freestyle events, their girl counterparts holding out in the medley relay.
Newly-appointed swimming development officer Cryer led by example in the open breaststroke over 100m as Dolphin narrowed the gap at the top to just two points.
Louise Maynard made it back-to-back wins for the breaststroke swimmers and the girls' under 12 foursome of Matilda Meers, Emily Fouracre, Emma Prunty and Kari Gibson took victory in the freestyle relay as Dolphin edged into the lead for the first time since the opening race.
Ben Matthews marked his Dolphin Summer League debut by winning the open 100m freestyle.
Division 2: Corsham A 141 points, Swindon Dolphin B 139, Marlborough A 111, Bradford on Avon 108.
n SWINDON ASC found life extremely tough in their open round in Division Five at Trowbridge.
Against Melksham, Dolphin C and the host's B side, they finished fourth, just edged out by Dolphin.
Swindon ASC's best performing age group was the Open Girls where Yasmin Smith, Sarah and Elle Christmas plus Helen Torrens-Burton, who won all their events.
