COVINGHAM'S Peter Leppan earned a 10th place finish in the second outing at the Little Rissington kart track in the Junior Rotax competition.
His lap times from the first heat in the morning compared to his times in the final and he was now racing at similar lap times to the vastly more experienced other drivers.
Leppan had three solid heats, finishing all of them and qualifying 11th for the final.
In the early laps of the final Leppan was looking to be quite competitive, but a misfiring engine halted his progress and dropped back off the main pack to finish 10th.
Leppan said: "It was a bit disappointing as I felt really good and I thought I could be challenging for a higher finish, but it was a finish, which means championship points and it was fun!"
Leppan has now had his licence signed off, which means he is able to upgrade his licence from a Kart B to the A and will therefore no longer be a Novice and is not required to start the heats from the back of the grids.
