trainer Darryl Porter's trap four starter, Spirithill Kate, should capitalise on her recent drop in grade in the second race at Blunsdon tonight, writes KENNEL MAN.
Kate finished third in a higher grade race, and now in A8, an early break from the boxes can easily see her streak away to victory.
Six-bend action hots up the evening's racing early on, in race three, an S1 over 685m, and it is down to Pete Swadden's trap two raider, Coolanure Bypass, to skate clear and claim honours.
This is a cracking race with plenty of close rivalry and it is another race where by the closest danger comes from the same kennel.
Also trained by Swadden, trap four runner, Windgap Ella is well trained over this distance and is a major threat to her blue bearing partner.
Les Wallington's Hawthorn Flyer lands the trap five position and is another big contender.
Form has not been at its best for Steve Rayner's railer, Wood Dew, but all that could change this evening in race seven (9.05).
The Rayner runner has the added comfort of being moved back into trap one, from where he won last time out.
Hot prospect for the future, Falkners Swallow will trouble the out of form runner and should move well from four.
Cindy Clapp's debut runner, Nohoval Mike in race 10 (9.50) seems to have his work cut out, but trials do suggest that this is another classy animal from the Clapp kennel and do not be surprised if the trap four runner storms his way to victory.
Porter's Ballyphilip Cane is the likely race favourite and maybe hard to shake off in the final furlong.
Clapp moves into the next race (10.05) with the same task set before her with another classy runner in her grasp.
Sportmans Cobra has already clocked 29.41secs in qualifying and possessing some early boot as well it could be a double debut- winning performance for the trainer.
Race 12 (10.20) looks to be a cracking A1, and Paul Foster's Rabs Ladykiller will be keen to make amends for last week's loss.
Starting from three, the Foster runner has only Terry Kibble's Cashen Ridge to worry about.
Cashen Ridge lands the five trap and is a massive potential threat, but recent efforts have been well below par.
Lining up in trap two in the final race is Cherie Llewellyn's hotpot, Coup Detat. After crowding on the first two bends, Llewellyn's A1 charge still managed to claim a silver medal and, bar a big race from Eastpark Bay in six, Coup Detat has this race already won.
Tonight's tips Race two (7.50): Trap 4 Spirithill Kate, trio 4-3-2.
Race seven (9.05): Trap 1 Wood Dew, 1-4-5.
Race 12 (10.20): Trap 3 Rabs Ladykiller, 3-5-2.
Race 13 (10.35): Trap 2 Coup Detat, 2-6-1.
