BIKE fans are set to witness spectacular action when the British Masters Motocross Championship comes to Foxhill this weekend.
The second round of the event will take place over two days at the circuit, which is to the south-east of Wanborough.
The championship travels all over the country and is viewed as the ideal proving ground for Amateur Motor Cycle Association riders to test themselves against a selection of the best British and GP Championship riders.
It was started in 2002 and many household motocross names, such as Priory Vale’s Stephen Sword, cut their racing teeth in the championship. Billy Mackenzie, Brad Anderson, James Noble, Mark Hucklebridge and Scott Elderfield have also come through the ranks.
In motocross up to 40 riders on specially-adapted bikes contest a series of races over a marked circuit. The highly-skilled riders regularly fly through the air and perform daring overtaking manoeuvres on a technical twisting course.
The action at Foxhill gets underway around 10am and should finish around 5pm.
In future months the competition is to visit Whitby, Hawkstone Park and Pontrilas before coming back to Foxhill for the final round at the beginning of August.
