FOUR colleagues from Wiltshire and Swindon Sport, the County Sports Partnership, completed a five-mile race around the new Olympic Park on Saturday.

The team, who are playing a key role in delivering the Olympic legacy for local people, were invited to take part following their work in promoting the event.

The route started beside Anish Kapoor’s Orbit Tower and took runners past the Aquatics Centre and the Copper Box, up onto the Velodrome’s outer concourse and finally into the Olympic Stadium.

Some 5,000 people took part and were greeted in the stadium by 12,000 spectators upon their entry into the stadium.

Wiltshire and Swindon Sport’s Dominique Oughton, from Swindon, ran the course as part of her preparation for the London Marathon at the end of this month, finishing in 48:32.

She said: “To take part in the run was a fantastic opportunity that will always stay with me.

“It was great for so many members of the public to be able to experience the excitement of the Olympic Games on home turf.”

Ben Maxfield, Rich Ayling and Cassie Reid from Wiltshire and Swindon Sport also took part.
