DAVID Howell survived another late wobble to book his weekend berth in the Omega European Masters in Switzerland today.
Howell, who was challenging the leaders on day one before back-to-back double bogeys slipped him down the leaderboard, carded a second-round of 70 to stay at one under for the tournament at Crans-Sur-Sierre.
Starting on the tenth, Swindon’s two-time Ryder Cup star was given a reminder of his day one woes as he double-bogeyed the short tenth to slip over par for the first time in the tournament.
He recovered well just prior to the turn, again birdieing the long 15th before adding a three at the 17th – three shots better than he had managed than Thursday.
Another birdie followed at the 18th and he made it three in a row on the first – his tenth – before dropped shots at the third and sixth saw him finish just inside the cut line.
