WRAG Barn golfer and junior England squad member Ben Loughrey finished fourth in the Peruvian Amateur Championship, having shot 66 in the first round.
“It was a good result in conditions I’m not familiar with,” said the Highworth man.
Loughrey went even better last weekend when he ended up third at the Irish Open Amateur Championship in Dublin.
He and his brother Josh also qualified for the stroke play Brabazon Trophy, shooting 71 and 70 respectively to come tied 22nd and 14th.
The pair will compete in the Wiltshire County Championships this weekend at the Kingsdown Golf Club and Cumberwell Park.
Other Wrag Barn golfers taking part will be Daniel Pulham, Dan Lee and Matt Mumford.
Ben, who occupies fourth place in the English Golf Union’s Order of Merit, said: “I’d love to make the home internationals team in August and be amongst the top 10 England players taking on Wales, Ireland and Scotland.
“Then there’s the Walker Cup next year - but that feels a long way off.”
