Trailing 3-1 from the first period, Wildcats came out firing in the second, scoring after just 33 seconds.
Matty Davies was the hero, forcing home a rebound from lee Richardson's shot.
However, a goalmouth scramble at 23.53 saw former Swindon player Juraj Rusic force home a fourth goal for the visitors.
Wildcats' topscorer Joel Petkoff at last enjoyed some freedom and flashed up the ice to net at 26.01 and cut the gap to only 4-3.
Another powerplay for the Wildcats saw them draw level at 29.44 as Adam Brittle was on hand to tap home from close range after Raiders' keeper Toby Coolley failed to hold a wrasping shot from Petkoff on the powerplay.
Within a minute, the lively Petkoff put Swindon ahead for the first time as he raced forward again and cracked the puck into the back of the net with a superb wrist shot following good work by returnee Robin Davison.
