JOEY LEWIS and Loris Taylor both notched hat-tricks as Swindon Leopards thrashed Invicta Junior Dynamos Under 16 side 13-3 at the Link Centre on Saturday.
Lewis, below, scored five times, including a straight hat-trick in the space of 79 seconds in the last period, while Taylor netted four times including a late penalty shot.
The win moved Swindon up into third in the Under 16 South One League table and kept alive their slim chance of finishing as runners-up and clinching a place in the English Championship play-offs.
They have four games left and are three points behind second placed Romford but trail leaders Guildford by five who also have a match in hand and look certs for the southern title.
Lewis gave Leopards the perfect start after 30 seconds but had to wait until 9.41 before adding his second.
Sam Waller struck a third at 12.50 while Taylor added the fourth goal eight seconds later.
Dynamos fought back early in the second session as Jake Swarbrick (16.15) and Liam Hoare (20.25) pulled two goals back for the visitors to cut the lead to 4-2.
James Griffin replied for Swindon at 21.56 with Taylor extending the advantage to 6-2 five minutes later.
Leopards greater strength in depth told in the last period as they ran riot scoring seven times with one reply.
Jack O'Donnell, playing up from the under 14s team, notched the seventh at 32.29 and just under two minutes later Taylor completed his hat-trick at 34.25.
Dynamos cut the deficit to 8-3 at 35.26 before Lewis's three goals in 79 seconds. He completed his hat-trick at 36.36 and added two more at 36.55 and 37.55.
A frenetic couple of minutes ended with Taylor notching his fourth with a 38.34 penalty shot.
And to complete the rout Maxwell Tibbitts scored another for the Leopards with just seven seconds left at 44.53.

A PROBLEM with the ice plant meant all of the Swindon Junior Ice Hockey Club matches scheduled for Sunday afternoon and evening at the Link Centre had to be postponed.
They will be re-arranged as will Division One South League leaders Swindon TopCats home fixture against Oxford University.
