FORWARD Nicky Watt is targeting wins in all three of Swindon Wildcats’ remaining home games to secure their place in the end of season play-offs, starting with tonight’s clash with MK Lightning (face-off 7.45pm).

Cats have won their last five games at the Link Centre to all-but secure their place in the post-season, but Watt believes three more wins would guarantee their place and also send out a message to their English Premier League rivals.

“Our home form is very important to us and we are all very proud with what we have achieved here over the past month or so, but we need to keep it going,” he said.

“We want to put on a show and we want to impress the home crowd, but we also want to show everyone else what a difficult place it is to come, and make them not want to come here in the play-offs.

“Maybe the other teams may have looked at us earlier in the season and thought they could come to us and get a win in the play-offs, but now I think they will come here knowing they will be in for a tough night.

“We are capable of scoring a lot of goals at home, and if we do that it makes it very difficult for the other teams in the second leg.

Tonight’s match is the first of three in three days for Wildcats with visits to Slough and Sheffield on Saturday and Sunday, but Watt stressed they will treat it like any other weekend.

“Our training has really been the same as normal, apart from we saved our legs a little because we have the extra game to play,” he said.

“Maybe we should take some of the games a little easy to save energy, but we will not be doing that for the home game because that is our most important.

“Three games will be tough, but we will be fine and we are confident of picking up some good results.”

Wildcats have lost their two home games against Lightning so far this season, but Watt is confident of revenge tonight.

“They are a good side, and we know that, but we are confident of a good result,” he said.

“They have remained consistent for a number of years and that has been their key as their squad all know each other and they don’t take time to gel.

“Leigh Jamieson is a very good player who has been called up into the Great Britain squad and Lukas Zatopek is one of the best imports in the league, so we have our work cut out be we are confident.”
