A LAST-MINUTE Martin Coe try secured a 17-10 victory for Minety away at Wootton Bassett 2nd in Dorset & Wilts One North.
On a heavy surface, both sides had problems keeping their feet and Minety, who came with only two substitutes, soon had to use both of them after losing two players to injuries.
It was the visitors that made the breakthrough when Andy Brown fished the ball out of a turned-over ruck and flung it to fly-half Tim Vaughan, who jinked round two players before touching down behind the posts.
Ryan Dowling slotted the conversion, but Bassett responded when full-back Grant Murdoch raced up the blindside, breaking three tackles on his way to touching down.
The second half was tense but Minety went ahead thanks to an excellent passing move that set Dowling away for a try before Bassett struck straight back with a score of their own.
Leading by a slender margin, Coe's try in the dying seconds saw him squeeze in at the corner.
In Dorset & Wilts Division Three North, Minety 2nd put in their most disappointing display of the season as they lost 25-19 against Devizes 3rd.
Winger Joe Lister, flanker Brendon Rice and Kai Engiel scored tries, Andy Edwards adding a conversion.
DESPITE a brave effort, Fairford ended up on the wrong end of a heavy 51-11 defeat away at Bradford on Avon.
Fairford were forced to field a young, much-changed team and Bradford took full advantage.
The visitors did not help their cause by giving away two soft tries early on.
Fairford rallied, and after a good kick to the corner from fly-half Andrew Botha, Robbie Brown and Luke Sawyer combined for Dan James to score in the corner.
Botha added a penalty soon after but despite the territorial advantage, Fairford conceded another try from a loose kick and two more before the break.
Fairford scored first in the second half through a penalty, but three late tries compounded their misery.
