SWINDON head coach John Brown insists he is not gunning for revenge as they entertain Buckingham tomorrow, but is determined to pick up the victory for the bigger reward of clinching third spot in Southern Counties North.

After a disastrous start to the current campaign, Swindon have turned things around in dramatic fashion and have only lost one of their last seven games.

Their rise up the division means a third-place finish is realistically achievable, and Brown believes the change in fortunes is mainly down to two men.

"We've had to recover from the first five games of the season, so we're not as high as we had hoped to be," he admitted.

"But there have been a couple of key factors in turning the season round.

"Adam Westall has made a big difference.

"His experience has been vital, he's taken over leadership of the three-quarters line, and he's managing the game very well.

"Steve Tait has also been a big player for us. He came in in the summer and is probably the most consistent player in the league.

"If we were to achieve second spot it would be because Wallingford had given it to us rather than we had got it for ourselves.

"So we're aiming for third place and just looking to continue to improve between now and the end of the season. Anything else is a bonus.

"I'm a firm believer that we'll end up where we deserve to be.

"If we had played like we are now at the start of the season then we could have been in with a chance of winning the league.

"But we're not, and the table won't lie at the end of the season."

Swindon are without Tait for tomorrow's clash with Buckingham as he is training for half-marathons.

But winger Matt Ward returns, and Jonny Parker comes into the forwards line.

The teams met in September, when Buckingham came from behind to run out 29-14 winners.

Swindon were forced to play with 14 men for most of the second half following a red card to Neil Maycock, but Brown says retribution will be the last thing on his side's mind.

"It's absolutely one we're targeting to win," he admitted.

"We're on a bit of a roll at the moment and I'm really pleased with the way we're playing.

"Buckingham beat us at their place earlier in the season and they are a very powerful side.

"Unfortunately we had a man sent off and that hindered our performance.

"I don't want to say that we're after revenge, but I'm convinced that we'll bring them to Greenbridge on Saturday, put in a good performance and win."
