SWINDON College Old Boys scored two tries against Stow-on-the-Wold, but it was nowhere near enough as the Gloucestershire hosts ran in seven of their own to take a 39-12 win.

The home side took the lead when the Stow number nine got around the side of the scrum and past the despairing grasp of flanker Tim Birnie.

This plan of attack accounted for several of Stow's scores, and by half-time there was a 24-point deficit.

Seconds before the whistle the College showed what they can do when they put their mind to it as Greig O'Brien finished off a forwards push by handing off three defenders, before planting the ball over the line.

O'Brien and John Wall rallied the troops at the break along with captain Woody Briggs, and things were positive at the restart.

But with Birnie now off the field and the Old Boys down to 14 men, Stow scored twice in the opening 13 minutes.

And they were soon reduced to 13 players when prop Liam Farbrace was helped from the field after a kick to the head while on the ground, but the Old Boys stuck to the task and still looked dangerous.

Their reward came when Briggs crossed the line for his side's second score, but the extra two points went begging.

Stow added their seventh with the whistle approaching, using their numerical advantage to seal the win.
