SWINDON'S Development Squad are celebrating after clinching the Under 18 Dorset & Wilts Division One North Merit Table at the first attempt.
Having gone head-to-head with Chippenham, Corsham A, Devizes, Wootton Bassett and Frome, Swindon won eight of their 10 matches to pick up 46 points and finish two points clear of second-placed Chippenham.
And their championship victory was even more impressive as Swindon lost two of their first three games, against Chippenham and Corsham A.
However, they recovered superbly from their slow start to win all their remaining games.
The squad was made up of players from under 16 to under 18 level, and manager Ray Calvert paid tribute to the achievement of his side.
He said: "What is a credit to all players is the fact that they were newly promoted into the league after winning the Under 18 Dorset & Wilts Plate in 2006-07.
"Credit has to be given where credit is deserved, and all members of the squad are dedicated to continually improving their fitness and rugby skills."
