CIRENCESTER finished a successful season by retaining the Stroud and District Senior Cup after a comprehensive 48-12 defeat of Painswick.

Solid phase play from the forwards created space for the backs and led to three early tries, including a superb team effort which was rounded off by Titoko, to put Cirencester in a commanding lead.

However, Painswick were determined to make a game of it and started to attack around the fringes of ruck and maul, and gained their reward by sneaking over in the corner to reduce the advantage.

Cirencester hit back to strengthen their lead as Parry ran in an individual effort that covered almost the entire length of the pitch.

The introduction of Thorn and Luke Fisher added some fresh legs in the second half and Thorn was unlucky to have a try disallowed with his first touch of the ball.

Although Painswick added a further try, they crumbled in the final quarter as Ciren's superior fitness told.

From a break by Gennilard, Ski was on hand power over the line.

Captain Hammond also got his name on the scoresheet before injury forced him to make way for veteran Newman.

James Fisher then added three tries to grab himself a personal accolade, as he finished as Cirencester's top scorer for the season.
