SWINDON coach Neil Loader has called for a big finish from his players to ensure they get what they deserve from an impressive season.

With three games to go in South West 1 East, there are six teams who could finish as high as third or as low as eighth.

With his side sitting in fifth ahead of tomorrow’s visit to Witney, Loader believes three wins will be just reward for the impressive brand of rugby his side have played for much of the season.

“I think if we did have a bad end to the year the table would not show how good a season we have had, and that would be a disappointment for everyone here,” he said.

“It is very tight in the table at the moment and there is a lot to play for, so three wins would see us finish in style.

“We would almost be letting ourselves down if we don’t finish the season well, but we also know the season could have gone better.”

After tomorrow’s visit to Oxfordshire Loader’s men face games against the league’s bottom two, Olney and Buckingham, which the coach believes could give Swindon an advantage.

“I have to say I don’t know exactly what games the other sides around us have between now and the end of the season, but games against the two sides at the bottom of the league have got to be favourable to us,” he said.

“We know that a lot of things make a result, not just league position, but we have to go into a home game against Olney expecting to win.

“Buckingham pushed us hard when we beat them earlier in the season, and I am sure it will be a tough game again, but we can win both of those two.”

But before Swindon take on the league’s bottom two, Loader is focused on ending a run of defeats away at Witney.

“I can not remember the last time we won there,” he said. “It is a tough place to go, there is no doubt about that, and they are a bit like us in that they are proud of their home record.

“Someone will probably tell me we won there four years ago or something like that, but I honestly can’t remember winning there in recent times.

“They beat us earlier in the season at a time when we did not have our full side out, so there is an element of revenge too.

“They defend well but have a few weaknesses, and if we can focus on those we can win.”

Loader has close to a full strength squad for the game, but injury victims Tom Mannion and Nick Warren will be missing from the forwards and Mike Thompson remains doubtful.
