SIMON Gustafsson is hopeful of a repeat performance on his second return to former club Eastbourne, with the Swede targeting a rare away success.

The Eagles are unbeaten at Arlington this season, with Poole the only team to even manage a draw, but are also without a win on the road for nearly two seasons.

Gustafsson knows the Eastbourne track well, following five years on the south coast before moving to Swindon and, after enduring a tough start to his Robins career he gave his campaign a huge kick-start as he scored 15 at Arlington in a Swindon defeat earlier in the season.

Now, for the Swede, it’s a case of more of the same.

“We’ve got to try and pull our finger out and try and beat them away, which I believe we can do,” he said.

“It’s not a tough place, you just have to get the set-up right and make some starts.

“It went well last time I went there, so hopefully I can score the same again because it’s always a good meeting there.”

Gustafsson’s first meeting at heat leader produced six points against Lakeside on Thursday night, with the Swede gunning for regular double-figure scores in a bid to hold onto his spot.

“That’s where we want to be, we’re all aiming for number one and moving up is definitely a good thing,” he said.

“Six in the first meeting was okay, but I want to score above 10 in every meeting, but six was better than none.

“I want to stay where I am (heat leader) and hopefully climbing up the ladder.”
