SWINDON Robins are going to make the play-offs, comfortably.
Just my opinion of course, and there’s still a long way to go for sure, but having studied the remaining fixtures and predicted the outcomes I’m certain the Robins’ season is going to be extended.
With King’s Lynn and Poole long gone and assured of their places there are four teams, Lakeside, Swindon, Eastbourne and Coventry all fighting for the two remaining places. As luck would have it, the Robins have the Eagles and Bees twice and the Hammers once between now and the end of the season, meaning it’s all in their own hands.
Lakeside and Eastbourne have combined for just one away win all season, earning only 10 points between them, which as usual will be their downfall as the majority of their remaining fixtures are on the road.
For me, Eastbourne will be as good as out the picture by this time next week once they have taken on both Swindon and Coventry twice, taking only two points off opposed to their opponents’ four according to my predictions. The loss of Lewis Blackbird, who broke his leg riding in Denmark on Wednesday, will be a huge factor too given the reserve’s stunning Elite League form.
With seven of Lakeside’s 11 remaining meetings being away from home, I predict they will earn just one more points to take them out of the running.
Their decline leaves the door open for both Swindon and Coventry to surge through and take the two remaining play-off places due to their predicted consistent form in the run-in.
It will then be up to King’s Lynn to decide where the Robins will travel for the play-offs and, be it Norfolk or Poole, it will be a real tough ask. But, as we know, anything can happen.
