SWINDON Robins will face yet another uphill battle at Brandon this evening as they take on Coventry Bees without number one Peter Kildemand.

Alun Rossiter has been forced to use rider replacement at the top of his side for tonight’s televised meeting, due a lack of suitable guests as Dane Kildemand sits out another week due to the continuing effects of a concussion suffered last week.

With only Poole and King’s Lynn not in action tonight, boss Rossiter’s guest options are extremely limited given Darcy Ward and Niels-Kristian Iversen’s averages are too high to replace Kildemand.

Having asked Maciej Janowski, Shamek Pawlicki, Vaclav Milik and Kenneth Bjerre to no avail, and with Rory Schlein already guesting elsewhere, Rossiter has been left with no suitable option but to go with rider replacement. Danny King, formerly of the now-expunged Birmingham Brummies, is also unavailable under the seven-day rule given he has already agreed to race for Lakeside at Coventry on Friday.

This is not the first time the Robins have travelled away from home severely understrength this season and Rossiter knows it’s going to be a tough ask.

“It really isn’t ideal but it’s what we’ve got and we will have to go with rider replacement,” he said.

“Everybody’s riding, I’ve asked everyone at Poole and King’s Lynn and they can’t do it, and Niels and Darcy’s averages are too high anyway.

“It’s a massive blow because we all know how well Peter goes round Coventry but now we have to ask everybody else to step up to the plate. It’s a big ask but we will have to see what happens.

“You never know what can happen, although it certainly isn’t ideal.”

The Robins boss will be hoping for another power-packed display from reserve Steve Worrall who, on his last visit to Brandon with the Robins, scored 12+1, recorded the fastest time of the season and became the first draft rider to beat a heat leader as the visitors won 49-41.

The meeting in May proved to be the last for reserve Dan Greenwood, who was dropped and replaced by Nathan Greaves for the visit to Wolves the following Monday.
