ROBINS chief Alun Rossiter expects his team to receive a boost from the return of number one Peter Kildemand as the Elite League play-off battle wears on.
The 24-year-old Dane has missed Swindon’s last four meets as he continued to suffer the consequences of a concussion picked up while riding for Czestochowa in Poland at the start of the month.
After a well-earned spell on the sidelines, Kildemand is set to return to the Abbey Stadium track tonight as the Lakeside Hammers visit Blunsdon for the second time in August (tapes up 7.30pm).
“Peter will be back (tonight) and we’re really looking forward to that,” said Robins boss Rossiter.
“He’s been suffering with his concussion and the doctors told him to take a little bit more time with it – that’s the right thing to do, so we’ve had to do without him for a little while. It’s nice to have your own riders back riding for you and it’ll definitely be a good thing for us to have Peter available.”
With the pressure ramping up at the top of the table as the Elite League season nears its conclusion, the fourth-placed Robins face three meets in four days this week, with tonight’s clash with the Hammers followed by a trip to King’s Lynn Stars on Wednesday and a home meeting with Wolverhampton Wolves on Thursday.
But Rossiter, who saw his team beat the top-of-the-table Stars 52-41 at the Abbey Stadium last week, is keen to focus on the positives of a heavily-congested fixture list.
He said: “It will be busy but we’re going to be really used to riding at the moment and hopefully we’ll be on form – you can look at it that way.
“Our home form has been really good this year and that’s something that we’re going to look to keep going, especially (tonight).
“We’ve beaten King’s Lynn before but we gained a lot of confidence from winning against them last week and we want to take that in to this week.
“It’s definitely going to be a tough one against Lakeside. They’ve lost a few recently and they’re going to be right up for it when they come to us.
“But we’re confident that it’s going to be another one that we can win. Our track is really good at the moment and we’re riding really nicely on it.”
With the return of Kildemand, Rossiter also expects to have all of his options available to him for tonight’s showdown with the Hammers.
The Swindon chief added: “Everyone is available so we should have a good line-up.”
