STEVE Worrall has urged his teammates to continue their strong home form at the Abbey Stadium tonight in an effort to sustain their play-off push.
The fight for the final play-off spots is on a knife edge, with just four points separating Coventry Bees, Eastbourne Eagles and Lakeside Hammers, along with Swindon Robins.
With fixtures against basement boys Leicester Lions and Belle Vue Aces still to come, the reserve knows the Robins have to get the better of Wolverhampton tonight to keep those clashes alive.
“I’m pretty sure we can win it,” said the 22-year-old. “Our form at home has been good. It kind of suits us riding there now.
“Everyone has found their feet there now and we need to make sure we keep that form running through tonight.
“The track’s there for us all to race well now, but we need to deliver on that. Everyone’s got to ride it to their best – no complaining.
“You have to make home advantage count. If you’re on a track you know you are set up from the start and can build an advantage whilst the other team is still working the track out.
“By the time they’ve got themselves set up you are 10 or 15 points ahead. Once you’ve got that lead you can just keep it going until the end of the meeting.”
The Robins were last beaten at home on June 12 – by tonight’s opponents in dramatic fashion.
Having fought to establish a 14 point lead after nine races, the Robins looked set to cruise to a comfortable victory.
Yet they collapsed in the closing stages following a Wolverhampton 8-1 in heat 10, eventually losing out by a single point after a tense last heat decider, with the final score 47-46.
Wolves have not won away from home since that night at the Abbey Stadium in June.
