ALUN Rossiter is disappointed the visiting Wolves side will be so under-strength but knows his Robins side must take advanatage and move back up to fourth in the Elite League tonight at the Abbey.
The Robins remain in search of a top four spot to book their place in the play-offs, and they can give their chances a major boost with three more points.
Victory will see them leapfrog Lakeside and Eastbourne to move back into the top four entering the closing stages of the campaign.
Rossiter’s side will be searching for their eighth consecutive win on home soil as they take on a severely depleted Wolves side hit by injuries and absences, including, crucially, captain and number one Tai Woffinden.
While their opponents arrive at the Abbey understrength, Alun Rossiter will have a full side at his disposal as the Robins look to continue their excellent run of form.
And team boss Rossiter is looking for a professional performance from his side to secure three more points.
He said: “It’s bitterly disappointing that Wolves are so under strength, and it doesn’t do anybody any favours really.
“It’s an unfortunate situation, but we’ve just to get on with our job, and concentrate on making sure we come away with a big three points to help us make the play-offs.
“We’re in a good position at the moment and as we showed at King’s Lynn on Wednesday, going somewhere like that holds no fears for us – so it’s going to be an interesting few weeks ahead.”
Woffinden missed last weekend’s Grand Prix in Poland, where Robins’ skipper Troy Batchelor finished eighth, has not yet recoved from his wrist injury. Wolves also decided to axe number Piotr Pawlicki on Monday due to the fact he has been unable to ride for them since August 4. Wolves promoter Chris Van Straaten said: “Enough is enough. It’s just not fair on the team, the promotion and most importantly the supporters.
“It’s with a heavy heart we have made this decision, it cannot be allowed to go on and it’s probably because he is such a wonderful talent on a speedway bike that we have allowed it to go on this long.”
Max Clegg and Tom Perry will act as rider replacement for Pawlicki in tonight’s meet.
