NICK Morris says that he feels back to his best as he looks to carry on contributing to the Swindon Robins’ Elite League play-off push.
The 20-year-old starred with three heat victories as he notched up a 12+1 in Swindon’s comfortable 59-36 victory over Wolverhampton Wolves at the Abbey Stadium on Thursday night.
Morris admits that his confidence had taken a knock in recent weeks but the Australian took heart from his sparkling display on Thursday and is looking to play a big part in the Robins’ final few meetings of the regular season.
“Last month, I was not going so good but the last few meetings have been really good and I’m starting to get back to where I want to be,” said Morris.
“Speedway’s just a big head game. You lose confidence in your bike and just lose confidence so once you get that back, you’re untouchable.
“I was making good starts (on Thursday) and felt good on track too, so it’s good when you’re winning races.
“The Wolves team was a bit depleted but we had to race what was there and all the boys did awesome.
“It was a bit unusual. They were so depleted and I don’t know why really but it made our life a bit easier. It is fun but it’s not really ideal.
“We’re on a bit of a roll at the moment, we’re going pretty good, so it was good to get a win.
“We need to pick up as many points as we can now – get in to them play-offs and go from there.”
Alun Rossiter’s men make the trip to the second-from-bottom Leicester Lions tonight, looking to notch up their second win at Beaumont Park this season.
Morris added: “It’s not going to be easy. They’ve got a pretty good team but we’ll go there and battle away like we have done all year. And we’ll try and win.
“We’ve just had to win all our home meetings, and we’ve been doing that, and if we can pick up anything on the road, it’d be awesome – we picked up a point at King’s Lynn the other week, so that was good.
“We’re all riding good and when you’re on a bit of a roll, it kind of makes everything easier. We like the Leicester track.”
