SWINDON Robins tonight unveiled Poland’s Krzysztof Stojanowski and American Ryan Fisher as their fifth and sixth signings for 2009.

Stojanowksi, 29, claims a reserve berth in Alun Rossiter’s revamped line-up after joining from former Premier League side Isle of Wight Islanders.

Fellow reserve Fisher meanwhile, will feature as a 'doubling-up' rider, having already been a success in Edinburgh Monarchs' Premier League play-off-winning side in 2008.

The Polish rider was introduced to fans at the Pit Crew’s annual meeting at Rossiter’s New Inn pub, along with fellow new boy Englishman Simon Stead who, as the Advertiser reported yesterday, joined on a swap deal involving ex-Blunsdon favourite Charlie Gjedde.

Stojanowski has previous experience around Blunsdon after appearing as a guest four times in the 2008 campaign And Rossiter said: “We brought Stoj in because we knew what he can do and he's never let us down.

"He's a 100 per cent tryer and really get stuck in.

"We're confident in him and it's definitely not a case of him being there to make up the numbers.

"We've been accused of that in the past, but he will do a job for us and hopefully he is also going to be moving to Swindon.

"With the league as it is, it's not a case of just filling in the gaps.

"Gary (Patchett) and myself have been bouncing ideas off each other, but I've really been pushing for Stoj and been vocal about getting him on board.''

Stojanowski, a huge favourite with Islanders fans during his three-year stint in the Premier League, added: “The time is right for me to change clubs and it should be my best season in England.

“I was a guest four times last season and it was a good team with good riders like Leigh Adams and Jurica Pavlic.

“It should be a great season for me because the Elite League is much more professional.’’

Robins fans were also boosted by the news that Jurica Pavlic will start on an enticing four-point average in 2009 last night.

And it was revealed that Swindon will start next season with a 60th anniversary meeting at Blunsdon on March 15.
