LEIGH ADAMS will be hoping for better luck today when he competes in the European Grand Prix in Wroclaw, Poland.
In the opening round a fortnight ago in the Slovenian GP semi-final the Robins skipper was miles ahead, but was denied victory and a place in the final when he suffered mechanical problems on the back straight of the last lap.
Consequently, he had to be content with fifth place overall and 10 points from the qualifiers and not a minimum of 16 had he reached the grand final and shootout.
Adams has put that disappointment behind him and since has been racking up the points both in this country for Swindon, two maximums last two meetings against Eastbourne and Oxford, and abroad in Poland and Sweden.
"Everything is going great at the moment," said a confident Adams. "I think we have sorted the problem which was ignition the box went flat.
"It was just one of those things and could happen anytime but we have put that behind us now.
"I am very happy with the way things are going at the moment and scoring plenty of points. It is a very hectic time and undoubtedly the busiest week of the season for me.
"I have been in Poland, Sweden, Poland again on Wednesday, then Swindon on Thursday for a league match. It was a pain really having to comeback from Poland but that's the way it goes, now I am in Poland again for the GP."
Adams continued:"I feel confident and need to make another A final, that is where the big points are earned.
"In the last GP I should have had at least 16 points in the final but only ended with 10.
"I must make the final or the gap will start to open.
"It will be tough in Wroclaw and a track that all the Polish riders go well on.
"However, I like the Wroclaw circuit also and will be looking for some good starts and a place in the final."
On current form he is certainly worth a flutter to win round two at 7/1.
Swindon's other representative Lee Richardson was unlucky to be just pipped for a semi-final spot in the GP of Slovenia. Since he has had his problems with bikes and injury.
However, he looked as though he was coming back to form in the win over Oxford on Thursday and will be looking to build on that but must reach the semi-finals.
His last appearance in a GP in Poland was towards the end of last season when he finished as runner-up to Tomasz Gollob.
Round One winner Nicki Pedersen had an operation on his troublesome wrist immediately afterwards but is expected to take his place in Wroclaw.
