ROBINS will be looking to keep the momentum going tonight and record their fifth league win in a row.

However, it will be tough as the Pebley Beach Swindon Robins visit Manchester to face second in the table Belle Vue Aces.

Swindon had slipped down the table to seventh place with an in balance of away matches but in the last four weeks have hit top form.

A run of four wins, including a massive 55-41 success at Eastbourne, has seen them shoot back up the Elite ladder into third place, breathing down Aces' neck.

Heat leader and Grand Prix rider Lee Richardson missed last Thursday's 56-39 win over Coventry owing to a virus, while Russian League commitments ruled out Renat Gafurov. However, both are named in the line-up for the Aces meeting.

Team boss Alun Rossiter said: "We are in form and feel we can do well this time around. I was very disappointed that we did not perform the last time there and lost 55-41.

"Even so we only just missed out on the bonus point at Blunsdon so I will be looking for us to keep it as tight as possible this time. If we could come away from Belle Vue with something it would be a real bonus.'' Aces just missed out on the league title last year, losing to Coventry in the play-off final.

They have made another good start in 2006 led by Grand Prix rider and ex-Robin Jason Crump and are warm favourites to reach the play-offs again.

Teams (probable)

BELLE VUE: 1 Kenneth Bjerre, 2 Joe Screen, 3 Simon Stead, 4 James Wright, 5 Jason Crump, 6 Phil Morris, 7 Tom P Madsen.

SWINDON: 1 Leigh Adams, 2 Mads Korneliussen, 3 Renat Gafurov, 4 Sebastian Ulamek, 5 Lee Richardson, 6 Adrian Miedzinski, 7 Sebastian Alden.

  • LEIGH ADAMS will defend his Elite League Pairs Championship, but for the third season in a row he will have a different partner.

In 2004, the Robins skipper took the title with Charlie Gjedded in front of his home supporters at Blunsdon.

Then last year he won the championship again when he and Lee Richardson stormed to a convincing victory at Peterborough.

It is all change again however as a brilliant start to the season has seen Sebastian Ulamek knock Richardson out of the second heat leader berth.

As a result he has grabbed the place alongside Adams at Blunsdon on Sunday June 4, the day after the British Grand Prix has been held in Cardiff.
