SIMON Stead eased into the British final after qualifying comfortably in his semi at King’s Lynn tonight.

The Sheffield-born rider grabbed four wins out of five to join Robins teammate Jordan Frampton in the line-up for the Wolverhampton showpiece on Monday, June 14.

Stead finished third in his opening race behind Chris Harris and Lewis Bridger but was not to be stopped after that, though Carl Wilkinson and Eddie Kennett both tested him.

“We knew first and foremost that we needed a top eight finish so to finish joint third was a good result,” said Stead afterwards.

One man who surprisingly did not make it to Wolverhampton was Swindon asset Lee Richardson, newly-signed by Lakeside, who withdrew after crashing in his second race.

The Coventry pair of Harris and Kennett topped the score chart with 14 points each, while Peterborough’s Lewis Bridger finished level with Stead on 13.

The line-up for the final next month is not totally complete as Danny King and Richard Hall could not be separated for eighth place in the first semi at Sheffield.

The pair will have a one-on-one race immediately before the final at Monmore Green, in order to determine who makes the top 16.

British final line-up: Chris Harris, Scott Nicholls, Simon Stead, Eddie Kennett, Lewis Bridger, James Wright, Ben Barker, Olly Allen, Stuart Robson, Jordan Frampton, Jason King, Leigh Lanham, Chris Schramm, Paul Clews, Andrew Tully, Danny King or Richard Hall.
