FANS got their first glimpse of Swindon’s 2012 Elite League side yesterday as the Robins held their annual press and practice at Blunsdon.
The afternoon began with club announcer Clive Fisher introducing the entire squad - except for Jason Doyle and Kenny Ingalls - to the assembled press in the Legends’ Lounge overlooking the track.
The media were then invited to conduct interviews with the likes of Troy Batchelor and Hans Andersen, while team boss Alun Rossiter and co-promoter Gary Patchett were also available for questioning.
Following this, the riders then got changed into their leathers and had team and individual photographs taken, before hitting the Abbey Stadium shale in front of dozens of supporters.
“I’m very excited about the new season and the town seems to be excited as well,” said Rossiter.
“Now with the football team doing so well and the expectation being on the speedway team, the town is on the up.”
Patchett was also positive about the prospects of the Robins this year, saying: “It’s a very exciting team.”
Ingalls and Doyle were not present at press and practice due to visa issues. American Ingalls only been issued a visa in the last few days, while Aussie Doyle is still waiting for his to come through.
