The competition for Swindon’s best Chinese takeaway is heating up.
Last week the Adver launched a major competition to find out what is the best Chinese takeaway in Swindon.
Following a survey which finished on Sunday, January 30, the shortlist has been cut to just ten of the public's favourite places to get their chicken chow mein and prawn crackers.
Below are the takeaways and restaurants, in no particular order, that got the most votes to feature in the shortlist.
- Abbey Meads Rendevous (Swindon)
- China Kitchen
- Eat well- (Cricklade Road)
- Swindon Rendevous (Theatre Square)
- Severn stars
- Terry’s Chinese Takeaway
- Lee’s Chinese Takeaway
- Blue Sky
- Eldene Chinese Takeaway
- Emperors Kitchen
But now the competition really heats up as these ten will now go face to face to be crowned masters of the wok.
From today, Adver readers can take tokens they find in the paper and stamp their claim as to which is the best by voting for them and posting in the token.
Swindon Advertiser editor Daniel Chipperfield said now was the crunch time for people to prove their fast-food loyalty.
“We’ve narrowed our competition down to 10 of the best in the town. But who stands above the rest as the destination for a slap-up Chinese meal?" he said.
“You might be going to these places week in and week out, or it just might have a special place in your heart.“Either way now is the time to show your love for your favourite so make sure they get your backing.”
Chinese restaurants have become a staple in England, with the first eating houses springing up in London way back in 1880.
The first recorded restaurant was thought to have opened in 1907 but the theme's strong popularity did not start peaking until after the Second World War.
