WHAT on earth is wrong with our town planners? Are they a brick short of a building site?
The lunacy of the paving/road configuration around Regent Circus is obvious to pedestrians and motorists alike.
Even a small child with a Scalextric set would probably be able to work out that making roads and pavements indistinguishable from each other is an accident waiting to happen.
And now they want to replicate it at Ridgeway Farm near the primary school. It beggars belief.
And this isn’t the first time they’ve messed it up. Look at Whalebridge – a perfectly serviceable roundabout turned into a nonsensical junction which forces people to double back on themselves and has turned Spring Gardens into a rat run. Genius.
Oh and of course let’s not forget the anti-pedestrian pedestrian crossings at the railway station when that was first finished.
The council does realise, I presume, that if it continues in this vein of potentially killing off its residents with dangerous roads its council tax income will fall?
At least then it won’t have enough funds to cock anything else up.
