MANY have written to the SA recently in outrage concerning the death of Palestinians civilians in Gaza by Israel, with even some trying to legitimise and thus condone such crimes against humanity.
However there is another such atrocity taking place in Ukraine which for reasons best known to the ‘western media’ continues to go largely unreported and ignored.
The city of Donetsk has a population of 1m and is the size of Birmingham and is host to most of the industry of Ukraine, and Lugansk is roughly the size of Swindon. But the people there are being indiscriminately shelled by their own army, as instructed by Poroshenko’s Kiev government. At the last count at least 1,500 Ukrainian civilians have been died du to the ‘US backed’ right sector government of Ukraine in Kiev.
On July 6 he was giving a speech to the arguably illegitimate government assembly in Kiev, after commenting ‘An army that knows how to protect the people and the state’, which was interrupted in mid flow by Elena Bondarenko who is ‘party deputy for the regions’ who retorted, ‘And an army that kills children! And an army that kills children!
This was in reference to Poroshenko’s slaughter of ‘his own people’ of Eastern Ukrainian cities which surely makes him a ‘war criminal.’ However this event along with others in Eastern Ukraine is seldom mentioned on TV news channels or the newspapers.
The situation for the people of Ukraine is a sad one indeed, and it looks at the moment that even when the unrest subsides they will be left to their own devices to pick up the pieces of their broken country as by then the west will have ‘conveniently forgotten their plight’ and will surely not be willing finance their restitution, and understandably Russia may not feel like aiding them financially either.
