I MUST totally disagree with Mr Reucer (Letters, August 11) when he questions if Gay Pride is still necessary.
Yes, we may have the Gay Marriage Bill but that isn’t a magic wand to cast over society and banish all prejudice.
Until people are treated equally and kindly by their fellow humans in day to day life, events such as Pride are needed so people can shout out that it is fine and normal to be gay until those who think it’s not get the message.
I look forward to a world where events like this are genuinely no longer necessary, so great is our tolerance and understanding.
But I fear I shall not live to see it.
