AS I am sure you know, one of the biggest household problems many families face today is the problem of debt. Millions of people throughout the UK are falling into debt. Financial mismanagement puts a great strain on personal life. Many couples, because of the great strain they are under, end up in divorce courts and the marriage ends and many people sadly commit suicide.
As a person who has been in debt quite heavily, I want to offer this advice: please do not ignore it as it will get worse. The main thing you must do is take action. Look at the website called Money Advice Service – there is a lot of good information about debt on the website. There are also many debt counselling agencies who do not charge for their services and offer really good advice. Some useful numbers are the National Debtline, telephone number 0808 808 4000, Stepchange telephone 0800 138 1111, the Debt Advice Foundation, telephone 0800 043 40 50 and Christians Against Poverty, telephone number 0800 328 0006.
