I WOULD like to say what a wonderful night I have just encountered at the Simple Minds show at the Oasis – a truly breathtaking conglomerate of musical panache and a feast from albums past and present.
Their talents show no sign of wavering in the slightest.
Their set was cleverly made up of album tracks from the early synth-led I Travel to the quite breathtaking Real Life and, of course, Let There Be Love, two tracks from an era a lot of Simple Minds fans will remember as the most prolific.
The track Real Life still hits a nerve to this day.
The albums Sparkle In The Rain and New Gold Dream are both incandescent in their material.
The introduction of a female vocalist on this tour worked amazingly well, especially on Book Of Brilliant Things. Like the night, it had us all spellbound.
All in all, Simple Minds sparkled like no other. On this form, they stand poles apart from any other band.
