QUIDS in this May! Many thanks to Mr John L Crook (Letters, May 4) who offers £1 for each point above 50 that the United Kingdom accrues in Eurovision. I think we are line for 35-53 points at best so Mr Crook will not be much out of pocket.

Should a miracle occur and he meets his ‘Waterloo’, I wish for Mr Crook to donate the money to the Wiltshire Air Ambulance.

Life will never have been sweeter for our favourite old Etonian, David William Donald Cameron, who won a remarkable little majority to remain as Britain’s 74th Prime Minister.

If Cameron is a genuine Aston Villa football fan, he will give it all up for an FA Cup victory against Arsenal.

We now have one-party politics in England and one-party politics in Scotland. Can Labour ever govern again without the demise of the Scottish National Party? Swindon has helped give Cameron the mandate to continue his good work in reviving the economy and permission to unleash more austerity. Congratulations to Messrs Tomlinson and Buckland. At least Solicitor General Buckland is a Welsh Tory.

Finally, my congratulations go to Stuart Bingham, world snooker champion at the venerable age of 38. He seems a lovely man with a lovely family who worked hard and struggled for 20 years to make the grade. Bingham is the oldest world champion since our own Welsh ‘Dracula’ Ray Reardon, who was 45 when he won in 1978.
