News of charges being dropped against a woman suspected of causing the death of 14-year-old Harry Parker has been met with shock and outrage.

The teenager died on Akers Way on the morning of November 25, 2022, just days before his 15th birthday, after being struck by a car outside his school that is said not to have stopped.

Nearly two years later, the Crown Prosecution Service recently confirmed that it will not pursue the case against Ivy Mwangi - who was suspected of driving the car that hit Harry - after forensic tests did not show enough evidence "to demonstrate the driving was careless".

This provoked a variety of emotions from Adver readers.

Laura Patterson said: “All in favour of a protest against this ruling.”

Dale Telling said: “This doesn't have to be the final decision of the CPS. If the family want it, there could be an online petition to get it overturned.

“Harry's story should be heard and the family have a right to have their day in court. Poor Adam is at that school every day making sure your children cross the road safely since this happened.”

George Brown said: “The justice system is so wrong. Thinking of you all.”

Melanie Alford said: “I can't believe this it's absolutely disgusting, Something needs to be done, can't we all do a petition or something? Thoughts are with Harry’s family.”

Emma Rowland added: “Disgusting! And the family don’t get justice for their boy, unbelievable!”

Leigh Jackson said: “Unbelievable, just confirms to me that our justice and policing are not fit for purpose!

“God knows how Harry’s parents are getting through this. Residents of Swindon are thinking of you all at this time.”

Jasmine Hunt said: “Case could be reopened if there was new evidence. Anyone with dash cam footage etc, or any little bit of evidence at all could make a big difference.”

Gary Selby said: “The justice system in this country is farcical. I hope the people who were party to this outcome can live with their decision.”

Debbie Sherwood said: “How utterly devastating for the family. My heart still breaks for them!”

Luisa Jones said: "Absolutely disgusting. Thinking of Adam and family xx"

Julie Fisher added: "Heartbreaking to hear that no justice is going to be done. Sending love to Harry’s family."

Col Stevens said: "Absolutely shocking!"

Laura Bailey said: "What a total joke our justice system is in this country! May you rest in peace Harry."

Dawn Drew agreed: "This is disgraceful, this poor family has lost their son and must feel that there is no justice in our systems,

"I hope this is not just laid to rest and that justice will prevail in the end. My thoughts go to Harry's family."

Ron Lewis said: "This is wrong on many levels and outrageous. The justice system has totally let the family down and should think much of the public have lost faith in the justice system now.

"A petition needs to be set up. This cannot be the final outcome. Justice needs to be done."

Tiffany Lappage said: "I do not know this family at all but I am a mother and to think that they are going through this absolutely unimaginable situation is nothing but heartbreaking and a complete and utter miscarriage of the justice system in every way, shape and form.

"My heartfelt condolences to the family at this tragic time and as for the justice system that is supposed to serve and protect us, well, you sure have a lot to answer for. A complete and utter disgrace.

"Despite this disastrous outcome, your family can hold your heads high and you have done so much for the community and to ensure the safety of that road for many other children.

"I’m so sorry,"

Ben Blakey said: "This needs escalating, to the Secretary of State for justice. Absolutely appalling."

Lorraine Gove said: "This hurts my heart so much.

"The same happened to my brother in 1985. He was five-and-a-half years old and we were just going to school. I was truly hoping our legal system had changed since then, but it seems not. I truly am sorry and sending lots of love to Harry's parents."

Lucy Rose said: "My heart breaks for the Parker family, absolutely devastated that they have been let down in so many ways."

Alice May said: "We stand with the Parker family! Justice for Harry."
