FURTHER to my letter of April 26. Do these spokespersons realise how many of our amenities have been taken away?
Here are a few more to add to my list of the withdrawal of services on Parks Mr Renard: Banks (two), launderette, police station, garage, vet, dentist, optician, youth clubs, street litter bins, seats, dustbins, rent collectors, regular street drain cleaning, cooked school meals for children, bus conductors.
Cavendish Square had every kind of shop, including Woolworth's and there was no need to go into town.
That was in the days when those in service on the council served, and on a much lower kitty than they have now. The days when councillors did the job on a regular wage, instead of bringing in outsiders and paying them exorbitant salaries before they even begin to use our money on our amenities.
B WILLIAMS.
