IN response to Geraldine Walker (SA, May 10) I would firstly point out that not all non-smokers or ex-smokers are so anti-tobacco as she obviously is.
Secondly, I would ask why the anti-tobacco fanatics always make the argument a personal one rather than debating the subject itself.
Also, it is she who has missed the point non-smokers can choose whether to visit pubs and restaurants, smoking or non-smoking, but from next summer smokers will not be allowed to enjoy their vice in these places at all.
Smoking is still a legal activity, it raises many more millions of pounds in revenue for the Government than the NHS uses and the majority of pub customers are smokers. How can this be a democracy when the minority dictate to the majority?
If non-smoking pubs were so successful there would be more of them. Our publicans struggle enough as it is, so please stop telling them what they can or cannot do in their own homes and premises.
