I WANDERED lonely as a cloud that floats on high over vales and hills. When all at once I saw a crowd a host of sparkling bluebells'.
I feel sure Wordsworth would have been as enthralled over the Bluebell Wood at Manton, Marlborough as we were. We took our annual trip to the woods on Sunday. Once a year the drive through over 1,000 acres is open to the public for walking and car access. The Lions Club benefits from a bucket collection at the gate.
The natural beauty takes one's breath away, as does the intense perfume. You could sense the peace and tranquility being absorbed by visitors young and old. One can only stand and stare. For a few hours the gift of nature calms the senses.
On the journey home the car was full of bluebell perfume. A reminder again that Mother Nature is purer than any air freshener. To any reader who has not had the joy of visiting, please mark it on your calendar for next year, It will lift your spirit in these violent times.
What a joy. Thanks to Mother Nature.
