IN the wake of the local election results I am in despair with the Conservatives gaining seats and control of councils giving them the impetus to aim for a victory at the next general election.
To my mind this is a disaster for the country and the world because it means: 1. Tax cuts for the rich, cuts in benefits for the unemployed and long-term sick.
2. No investment in public services and infrastructure.
3. Cuts in social services and for disadvantaged people 4. Exploitation of working people.
5. Cuts in facilities in run down urban communities if they are not deprived enough. For example the Hawthorn Centre in Cricklade Road could be next on the hit list.
6. The rich will continue to get rich and the poor, poorer. The rich will outlive the poor.
This system is immoral and unjust.
The fate of the earth really lies in the balance water crisis, food crisis, fuel crisis.
Tory political ideology is not a recipe for the long-term benefit of working people.
It will also not help mother nature it will mean more exploitation.
Natural resources are finite and the earth cannot maintain capitalism indefinitely.
Capitalism is the domination of living men by dead matter' as Karl Marx once said.
Pollution and environmental decay is a great threat to life.
What is the future for our children and therefore for mankind.
Is there any hope?
I believe there is if people support the Labour Movement and Greenpeace to prolong life on Earth.
The situation is critical and the time to act is now.
