I AM writing in replay to Steve Little's letter Fare treatment,' (SA, May 18).

Mr Little will be pleased to learn that people with disabilities can apply to Swindon Borough Council to obtain a pass giving free off-peak bus travel in Swindon and Wiltshire.

With regard to the ending of return fares within the urban area, these were only available off-peak and the main sales were to senior citizens, who now qualify for free off-peak travel.

Our bus fares are now very simple just two zonal adult single fares and a flat fare for children so you can work out the cost of your bus journey before you travel.

Just like at the shops, buy one journey at a time and you pay the normal rate.

The way to make savings is to buy a multipack of travel by switching to an £11 weekly Travelpass, which is valid on Thamesdown and Stagecoach buses in Swindon.

Unlike returns, the Travelpass gives unlimited travel in the area and can be used in the evening and at weekends, as well as for the daily commute or shopping trips.

If you just want one day's unlimited travel, a Dayrider is also available at £2.50.

Fare's fair, maybe?
