AS an embattled Prime Minister struggles to secure his place in history he may well wish to reflect on his abject failure to achieve any of his great promises to the British people.

The latest fiasco surrounding the release into the community of criminals who should have been deported is but a shadow on the Government's failure to be tough on crime and tough on the causes of crime'.

The Prime Minister stated it was his proposal to "hassle and hound criminals until they leave the country".

What a great sound bite but as with much of what Mr Blair says it lacked any credibility as he is unable to get convicted criminals to leave the country even when he has the full force of the law to support him.

Why anyone would rely on the Home Office to run an ID system when they can't manage the penal system is a mystery. The Home Secretary should resign.

It is now right that the Government should revisit its slavish devotion to the European Human Rights Act and start to act in the best interests of the British people.

In the space of eight short years Mr Blair has overseen the division of a nation as he has sought to implement his sacred shibboleths of multi-culturalism and uncontrolled immigration. Mr Blair complains that there is no respect for authority and that this country no longer has stable communities he is right and he is the primary architect of the reasons for both maladies.
