I FELT I had to write a note of praise, after going with a friend to the Wyvern Theatre on Saturday evening to see a superb concert.
Having read a couple of articles about Wessex Male Choir in the Adver I decided to go to see them and had almost the last two tickets of a sell-out show.
We were not disappointed.
What a wonderful tribute to Swindon to have such talent representing the town, as I understand they do at concerts and national and international competitions.
They were really excellent.
The visiting choir, Ponteddulais, from South Wales, were superb and offered a very strong and impressive presentation of a wide mix of songs, some in Welsh and some in English.
It was clear why they hold so many national titles.
The third choir, Warneford School, were lovely and sang a wide range of songs including a medley from Les Miserables, which was enchanting.
We were delighted to see Shirley Ludford as compere, looking most glamorous, giving greetings and announcing songs in both English and Welsh and one in French, providing a relevant link between the change of choir on stage.
The finale truly showed how much the audience had enjoyed the experience.
Shirley took the lead in involving the audience in a fun way, followed by final two numbers sung by the mighty force of the combined two male choirs. An encore was demanded and provided.
The buzz from audience members, as they left the theatre, echoed how we felt, we left wanting lots more!
It knocked my socks off as my grandson says!
