AT 93 years of age I have just experienced my first hospital stay.
This was in the Swindon Intermediate Care Centre, next to the Great Western Hospital, Forest Ward.
Would you please extend my sincere thanks to all the staff for their excellent care and attention with special thanks to Community Matron Beverley George who had me admitted to their care yet continued to check on my progress by calling on me most days.
On the day I was discharged I was told I would be going at 2pm and promptly at 2pm I was picked up and taken to my door.
The next morning Matron George called to see me and if I had settled at home all right.
I understand I am one of the first patients to be admitted under this new scheme. It was wonderful to how people really cared and has been very much appreciated.
