THE Rotary Club of Swindon Thamesdown has been organising the Walkley Midnight Walk on a twenty mile section of the Wiltshire Ridgeway for the last twenty years and Swindon Guide Dogs are looking for members of the public to walk on their behalf and help raise funds for our charity.
The walk takes place on June 12 and starts at 11pm at the Red Lion Pub in Avebury after a courtesy coach transfer from the finish point at the Bishopstone Village Hall at 9.30pm. Cars can be parked free of charge safely during the night in the village.
The club will provide marshalls at all major junctions and road crossings and will also provide a 4 wheel drive tail-end Charlie vehicle complete with qualified first aider where any walker unable to complete the walk can be returned to their vehicle by a Marshall.
Along the route walk refreshment areas will be provided with free snacks and hot and cold drinks for the walkers.
At the finishing point in Bishopstone the Royal Oak pub will be open for a hearty breakfast at a cost of £5.
Entry is free if you would like to walk for Swindon Guide Dogs please contact Alan Fletcher, chair on 01793 827589 or by email at shiralan@fletcas.freeserve.co.uk for more information.
