ANOTHER election, another fiasco. In the 2005 General Election it was a case of postal voting papers being illegally filled in by agents in the Midlands area (particularly) and in the 2009 European Election we saw ballot papers folded in such a way that some parties were hidden from the electorate. Now in 2010 we have thousands of people being turned away from polling stations and unable to vote for various reasons. It has been reported in the press that those unable to vote will each be eligible for £750 ‘compensation’ and, should that be the case, expect turnouts of 100 per cent in those areas.
What makes all this particularly bad is that we British continue to condemn some overseas elections, particularly in developing areas, for being unfair and to supervise others to ensure they are run correctly!
In Afghanistan and elsewhere our brave troops are dying to ensure they get free and fair elections in those countries while we can’t even arrange them here! You couldn’t invent it!
Finally, once again, I would like to thank all those who both voted for us and those volunteers who worked so hard to ensure the UKIP vote in Swindon.
