AT three o'clock in the morning I finally went to bed. Have a guess, I was up watching the general election results. Habits of a lifetime never change, do they ? I suspect I was not alone in regretting it in the morning. After all, the future of our country, our children, and our grandchildren are at stake. At the time of writing a hung parliament is the end result. The Tories under Margaret Hilda Roberts, commonly known as Maggie Thatcher started of well, with the public support of a democratic vote to govern in the best interests of all the people of Britain. At the end she suffered the humiliation of not even being given the chance to suffer the penalty you pay in a democracy for not governing in the best interests of all the people.
Anthony Charles Lynton Blair, the greatest political actor in modern living memory, followed the same path, but got out before the reality of the fact that he would be thrown out by the electorate happened.
As regarding Gordon Brown the electorate have spoken. Least said the better. The sleeping giant from all over this little island called the people, have stated emphatically. None of you are governing in all our best interests. While the horse trading goes on between the politicians they should be very careful of the fact that this is now a divided political island. All through our history from Trafalgar, two world wars and many conflicts before when we stood alone. Regardless of colour or creed or religion. We have survived by standing together as the United Kingdom. Perhaps it is time the politicians stood together and remembered who puts them in a position to decide our fate and future. After every four or five years, where they have the disgraceful option of giving us a chance to decide when it is the best time for their survival, not ours as a free democratic nation.
