FOLLOWING Thursday’s General Election I would like to take this opportunity to write to thank all the people of North Swindon who supported me. I enjoyed meeting local residents on the streets and at the hustings.
I was proud to represent the Labour Party as their North Swindon candidate and I am grateful to the Labour group of councillors, party activists, trade union colleagues and everyone who volunteered their help to my campaign.
At the count Justin Tomlinson, the Tory candidate, said something along the lines of the best candidates take two attempts to get elected and I hope his words are prophetic in my case.
I can assure North Swindon residents that I am not going away. I intend to continue campaigning in this area on issues of concern to local residents.
