A HUGE thank you to all the generous B & Q customers who gave to the recent NSPCC collection. The total collected was £591.09 which was a great result.
Thank you to all the collectors who turned out to help - you are all great giving up your time and making a difference to children. Thank you to B & Q management and staff for the opportunity to collect, they are all so helpful.
The NSPCC relies on local fundraising events for 87 per cent of its income so collections like this and the help from its volunteers is vital. If you have two hours to spend every now and then and would like to help please contact Sue Hooper on 01793 530912 or Patrick Weaver on 0797 606 5052 or email swindon110@nspcc.org.uk we always need new volunteers. If you care about children and feel that it is each child's right to be loved and looked after we would love to hear from you and have you join our band of volunteers. If we had more volunteers we could do so much more to help the vulnerable local children who so need our help.
You may be interested to know some examples of how the money raised is spent - £4 pays for a call to CHILDLINE, £26 pays for art materials used in the therapeutic work at Swindon Centre where highly trained workers help abused children come to terms with what has happened to them, £1,600 pays for a new volunteer CHILDLINE counsellor to be trained, the list goes on...
Thank you to all who gave and helped - you have made a difference to a child somewhere.
