MAY we all, as letter readers or letter writers of the Adver bury all our differences of opinion on politics? Or various other topics of dispute - the proposed canal, the water fountain etc to name but a few. Can we once again all stand together, shoulder to shoulder at kick off time at Wembley this coming Saturday?

Our Swindon Town football team’s magnificent performance last Monday against Charlton taking us to the play off final at Wembley. This game was like something out of Roy of the Rovers. Injured goalkeeper in the first few minutes. Reserve goalkeeper plays a blinder. Sending offs, extra time and a penalty shoot out. You name it and this game had it.

It is a fantastic achievement for a town the size of Swindon. Remember as well the Town’s record at the old Wembley, Ask Arsenal, Sunderland or Leicester. We put all three of them to the sword. Wembley will be a sell out, ask anyone who tried to get tickets on the internet. You were lucky to get through. The pubs and clubs will be packed out watching the game. The opposition our old rivals the boys from Millwall who were just pipped at the post for automatic promotion, who beat us a few weeks ago. What a set up for a final. Win or lose on Saturday Danny Wilson and his lads have done us all proud and put the town on the verge of reaching the Championship. If they play as well as they did on Monday night when they fought like the men at the Alamo with their backs against the wall, we can do it. So come on lads give us that open topped bus around Swindon once again. The whole town young and old are all united behind you. Go for it boys, you can do it.
